I created a symbol using the Symbol Browser, but when saving the symbol, I lost the Smart walls/doors and just got simple lines.
Is there a setting that controls this?

You cannot save smart entities to a symbol. Those entities will get converted to 2D/3D layers within the symbol. You'll have to use XREFs to be able to insert smart entities into multiple files.

good to know now that the deed has been done. Didn't want to self or xref 30 hotel rooms into one file. Thought symbol was a better methods. Will rethink for next project.
