I'm having a major brain fort right now ..

Due to a County Planner's comment I need to create a new plotting scale for 1"=1,000' for a 24x36 sheet (yep .. BIG site). It's been too long since I had to play with setting up new scales and can't for the life of me find the instructions to get there.

My thought process is that if I want 1"=1,000', and my sheet size is 3' long, then in-scale it should be 3,000' - so a scale factor of 1,000. I had LONG ago created an 'Engineering' scale file (but I'm questioning now whether I ever set that up correctly since 1:80 is too small and 1:90 is too big) and my "normal" scale file only goes to 1:60. Obviously I'm off SOMEWHERE in my scaling factors. I know how to open and save the .SCL file(s) - I just need help understanding what the factor is I'm missing.

And yes, I *DID* follow the mini-tutorial that Mark T. posted long ago, but when I do a quick layout the drawing itself is WAY too small compared to the quick layout boundary.

Set scale factor as =1/12/1000

Thanks, Roger .. I tried that but what comes in is WAY too big for my quick layout. I must have something screwed up in what I'm using for the scale when I bring in my titleblock and other xref's.

I really miss being able to call up Dave G. at this point, explaining my dilemma and hearing his gravely laugh and explaining what I needed to do - and it would be just a simple thing, too!

When you go to change a scale you should be able to just type in the formula =1/12/1000 which then should show up as 0.000083333333.

When displayed in the list of scales, it should be at the bottom location if this is the largest scale you have.

The size of the sheet really shouldn't matter for the scale to work, but make sure in the plot settings, the sheet size is set correctly.
