Sadly this is not possible directly.

The only way currently to do this is to export the AEC file to DWG then import this DWG in pre-DataCAD 11 versions.

Thanks Tony,

Do you know of a way to do this and not have everything on one layer grouped?

Hello Steve:

An R2000 or R14 DWG will preserve all your layers, and unexploded symbols, and it might even get the colors close to right. You will lose GTV's, MSP sheets, and the like.

If you have to do this with a lot of drawings, or very often, it might make sense to buy DataCAD 11 LT.

Why buy the Lite version?

I don't understand why this is a better way to go? I have V11 and the Dcad web does not show a Lite Benifit over the full version

Hello Steve:

Well, I thought that since you were wanting to open an AEC in DC10, that you were doing this at home, or on a laptop, and that you could get a v11 lisence for less -- but by all means, buy a second lisence of the full version! It is a pretty good price break over the first one you already have. :)

Oh ya, line weight . . . also gone!

Datacad made a big error with this version!

I don't think it was a mistake. Sure it would have been nice to get that Save As feature. However, remember how long the dc5 format lasted...5 versions without any backward compatibility issues.

Now to look forward.

May I ask why you need to open the AEC file in version 10? Are you exporting it for someone else or are you getting it from someone for your use? :?:

I must agree, this is the biggest problem I see with 11, that's why I’m hesitant about upgrading, I do a lot of Sub-Contracting work with other designers, who are on DC5 versions.

Can't someone write a Macro or something to save as?
