There are four steps involved in setting up a drawing so that you can enter site boundaries - setting the input mode, setting the scale type, setting the angle direction and setting the angle type.
- Click the Tools pull-down menu and set the Input Mode to Relative Polar.
- Select Settings from the Utility menu and choose Scale Type. Pick Decimal, then right click back to the Settings menu.
- In the Settings menu, choose Angle Type then click Compass to set North (zero degrees) toward the top of the screen.
- Still in the Angle Type menu pick Bearings.
- Start by picking the staring point for your site boundary. This point can be arbitrary as all other points will be relative to it.
- Hit the [Spacebar].
- DataCAD will prompt you to "Enter relative distance." Type the value in decimal feet, i.e. 48.5 for 48'-6", and hit [Enter].
- DataCAD will prompt you to "Enter relative angle." Type the value using the format LAT Deg.Min.Sec LON, i.e. N45.15.10E, and hit [Enter].
- DataCAD will add the line to your drawing.
- Continue entering the coordinates using the [Spacebar] coordinate entry until you have finished the site.
