knockout text displays borders

KnockOut text displays borders on the screen even with 'KnockOut Border' toggled off. They do not print but they are annoying on the screen. Any ideas?

Just double checking, is it toggled off for the Text itself in the Text Properties dialog (Ctrl+Right click on the Text, Text Properties) or just in the menu? Each text entity can have it's own setting.
