Hi,

This is probably not unique to v18. When I use Rotated dims, when they are close to vertical, the dim is on the wrong side of the line:

The 10'-9" dim is fine, but the 4'-10" and the 5'-5" dims should read from the right side; like the vertical dims.

I don't think your assertion is correct - those dimensions would read to the left because they are over/shy of 90deg. This may also be due to the rotate text setting? Sounds like a wishlist item for an override button from Dave!

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!!! This is the way that DataCAD has worked since I created the associative dimensioning system about a billion years ago. The rules that govern how and when the dimension string is flipped to the other side of the line is as how it was specified by my boss (Griff Burgh, AIA) back in the 80's. Those rules were derived from his manual drafting practices.

Neil: You could always manually place the dimension string as that routine allows you to specify the text's angle.

When in doubt, consult French & Vierck...

I really wish they'd teach young Architects and Engineers classical draughting in University, this current learn by osmosis approach isn't working. I seem to get the most crappy drawings from consultants these days.
