I am seeking advice from users of Smart walls as to how they show/draw demolished walls in a 3D model. Are walls put in a demolished layer or is there a material eg. Air which is a bit like glass but totally transparent in a render.

Hi Walter,

We've created a number of smart wall types for demolition walls as well as walls that are either part-height (spandrels, parapets, low walls etc.) or are overhead and need to be shown on a drawing. Generally these are shown as a dashed line or in the case of low walls, solid but in a light line weight and with no hatching. The dashed lines still render as solid planes in Sunshader, O2C and Quickshader. The Wall Manager is pretty flexible in assigning line types to the smart walls so they appear correct on plan (linetype, line weight, hatching or fill etc.). With the 3D aspect of the smart walls you can also apply a material with its own properties to the wall and can have a transparent look if this is what you want. You can also use a standard colour and adjust the transparency and other properties in the Material Assignment / Edit materials window to get the look you're after. It probably makes sense to put demolition items on their own layer so you can give yourself more flexibility with the model and drawings.
