Happy New Year to All! (And may this next year be a better one!)

As usual, our January 2010 edition of Cheap Tricks is a fun quiz review of everything we've covered for the past year. It's a good refresher course, even if you've read every issue, but it may also trigger you to check out something new. Here is just a sampling of the questions in our quiz.

WE'VE GOT ISSUES: Which method is not a good way to create roofs in DataCAD? (Nov 09). a. 1nclined Slabs or Polygons; b. RoofIt; c. Horizontal Slabs w/3D Cursor & Plane Snap; d. RoofBuilder Tools; e. Roofing Templates.

TRUE or FALSE: Lock Scale is a way of ensuring that a drawing file can only be plotted or printed at the desired scale (unless unchecked in the Drawing Manager settings) (Nov 09).

SHOW ME: Explain how, using DataCAD 12, you could give your consultants a DWG file that mimics a sheet layout using Multi-scale Plotting.

DID YOU KNOW that to rename a sequence of layers in the Layer Manager, you don't have to double-click on each layer? After renaming the first one, just hit the __________ key, then the ____ key, and ________ key again to rename the next one in the list.

Q & A: GLOBAL LINETYPE CHANGE: After importing an AutoCAD file, a lot of the lines that should be solid appeared dotted. I used the Identify feature and saw that they were centerlines (instead of solid) with a large spacing. The erroneous lines were scattered all over the place. There must be a quick way to change them all at once, right?

CURRENT EVENTS: How many years has Cheap Tricks been publishing?
a. 10 years; b. 12 years; c. 15 years; d. 19 years; e. 23 years.

DATACAD 12 FAQ: Which item is not an included feature of DataCAD 12.08?
a. Pen Styles; b. PakNGo; c. PaperSpace import from DWG; d. Multiple Pen Tables;
e. SketchUp import/export to/from DataCAD; f. Lock Scale.

Two Clues from the Cheap Tricks 2009 Crossword
28 ACROSS: Google's "spirit" on Trends
9 DOWN: DataCAD 12 Feature which helps transfer drawing files
