You can setup your base drawings, macros and dimstyles so dimensions have Prefix and Suffix enabled by default with blank values. In the Dimension, Dim. Style menu click on the Prefix and Suffix buttons and then add a non-printing extended character like All+0159 (Ÿ) to each. Then when you create new dimensions they will have the buttons already exposed in the Dimension properties context dialog so you don't have to manually toggle/Apply the On/Off drop down in order to add a new prefix/suffix. We use a non-printing extended character because they have a thinner width than a space and help keep your dimension text inside the leaders for auto location better. Your mileage may very depending on your font and dimension preferences.
