I should have posted this earlier, but I will be live streaming the DBUG meeting here at Signature on Facebook, starting at about 6pm. :D

Dwight B. requested this, and I thought I would give it a go.

It's half past six in Boston and I can't see anything, but I guess I'm the first to say something.
Should I be looking somewhere else?
Oh, gawd, Facebook. Now what?

Congratulations, Neil!

I finally got it sorted, I got rid of facebook on the phone and I haven't bothered with sound on my desktop for years! God only knows how long that show x-y has been there. One of the problems of using DataCad's keystrokes and shortcuts instead of mousing about is that you don't notice when a new menu item shows up.

Here's a link to the Facebook video of our DBUG meeting tonight:

It is all there - my battery held up! We had a total of 56 views (so far) and at least 8 of them were DataCAD users.

I think we need to try a two-way video stream - this might take two computers on each end, or it might be possible to have two browser windows open. Sound feedback could be a challenge, so maybe sound would have to be muted on one or the other location?

If someone can monitor chat / comments from the other location, that might be good enough to have quasi two-way communications.

I think a chat moderator would be enough.

Neil, thanks for doing this. Please keep me posted when you will be doing the next one. Being in Northern Vermont, it makes it a little tough to get down to the meeting in Mass.

Hi folks,

Dwight and I tested the video stream we are planning to do September 6th. He will be presenting a segment via Skype, so he can share his screen, and I will be live streaming everything from my end via Facebook. Here's the test video:

https://www.facebook.com/neil.blanchard.50/videos/1795915730433685/

During this test, my son Nicolas said that he had a better way to do it, using a third party program to merge the screen share with the web cam, called OBS - which stands for Open Broadcasting Studio. So, we tried OBS two ways - first streaming it to Facebook, which is better than the "old fashioned" way we tried first, I think:

https://www.facebook.com/neil.blanchard.50/videos/1795962460429012/

The second way uses a server called Twitch.tv instead of FB, and it allows a higher resolution stream than FB, and I can share the link ahead of time, so I think this is the way we will try. See what you think - click on the "most recent video" in the upper right corner:

https://www.twitch.tv/neilblanchard

Both Twitch and Facebook can be viewed without signing up, but if you want to ask questions via chat, you need to sign up. I am hoping to monitor the chat, so we can answer questions from folks viewing it live.

Either way, the video will be viewable online - Twitch hosts it for 30 days. I would download it (and edit for time) and then upload that to FB, so either way, it would be available after the meeting.

A reminder that I will be streaming the DBUG meeting tonight - on TWO places! Here is the link for Twitch, which will have a screen capture and an overlaid web cam of the meeting attendees, and will have a direct audio stream of Dwight's Skype presentation:

https://www.twitch.tv/neilblanchard

And I will be streaming it on Facebook with my phone, so this will be focused on TV and my monitor, and will also have sound of Dwight's presentation indirectly. The video stream will be public (I think), so you might be able to see it here:

https://www.facebook.com/neil.blanchard.50

I will post it under the the title "DataCAD Boston User Group September Meeting" so search for that.

We will start at ABOUT 6pm eastern daylight savings time.
