When inserting a symbol at a large scale, and the insertion point lies along one of the extents of the symbol, the overlapping area disapears making it hard to locate the symbol with one whole axis missing. If you hit the /? (zoom) button on your keyboard you can quickly get your cross of your cursor back to locate the to position the symbol, then right click out to your symbol insertion and snap to the point needed.
