Read off CD

There was recent discussion on the DBUG forum about not being able to read AECs off a CD. Contrary to popular opinion, it is possible to read an archived file.

You cannot save it back to the CD on closing. Datacad invites you to do a
Save as... instead. Similalrly, if you do a shift-F it asks where to.

While you are doing this, a job.$WP file is stored in D:\datacad\Temporary
Files.

I guess this is one of those things that you come across by accident, to the point where this is not the cause of a "I can't read my archived file" problem, but one of "I can't save the archived file that I have been working on....""

The standard complaint is not about the AEC files but the DC5 files. By default DataCAD wants to create a new AEC version of the DC5 file on the disk. Since the DC5 is on a read only media it is unable to open the file.
