While I'm not advocating moving from our beloved Dcad, for those who have been having some issues with opening Acad drawings you may want to download and register DoubleCAD XT (www.doublecad.com) as another tool in your arsenal.
It's interface is different from Acad's, it's strictly 2D and is limited in other ways - but it is free!
