How can DC copy design elements to a clipboard and paste to another drawing without destroying the layers that the original objects were created on? I want the original objects to be pasted onto their respective layers (doors, windows, walls, ceilings, flooring, etc.) so I can maintain my GoToView settings. I've figured out how to copy to clipboard... but Paste will simply paste with all objects onto my active layer. Definitely NOT what I want... I want Smart Paste rather than Dumb Paste. HA!
You should be see in the menu the option F8 Orig. Layer (what you want) F9 Active Layer
You could also try while in the new file, go file import, select the old file, and then you can select to import layers and GTV's., sheet layer outs and other layers if you wish.
