Can you change according to color, not layer

Hey yall,
I have a spec sheet 24x36 sent over to me by an Architect in DWG format from an autocad drawing. all of the lines are white and I would like to change them to magenta, all the text is red, I would like to change them to cyan, etc. Isn't there a way I can change all things in an area box that are white (for instance) to another color instead of having to do it one line at a time while avoiding the text? Seems like I saw that being done once on a demonstration video.

FOUND IT!!! Just knocking around, found the "Mask" function. Imma leave this up in case anyone else comes looking for the same thing.

Mask is really useful for more things than I ever imagined when it first was added to DataCAD. I now use it so often that I have a macro key dedicated to masking by color. I'll use the other properties too, but color seems to be the one that I use more than any of the others.
The more that you play with it, the better that you'll like it.
Have fun,
