DWG to AEC using DataCAD 21LT

I am having real problems with certain DWG files that other consultants send me. When I import the DWG, once it starts the process it just crashes DataCAD completely.
Does anyone have a solution to this or encountered the same problem?

Are you opening it directly or are you importing it into your AEC file? As I recall, long ago Clay recommended that you open a DWG file directly in its own AEC file, and then either cut-n-paste the entities into the drawing you want it in, or save it out as an AEC file and xref it in.

I am opening the DWGs directly, into a new file created by the import.

Are the DWG files from consultants that may be using add-on packages that utilize Proxies? Are the problem files only from one consultant/company?
Just spit-balling right now.
