When ever I exported previously there was always a shx file which I am not seeing now. What do I need to turn on to make that happen?

From User Manual
During export, the line definitions and shape codes for DataCAD line types are stored in a .SHX file. If
you export a DataCAD drawing named MYDRAWING.AEC, the translator will create two files:
MYDRAWING.DWG and MYDRAWING.SHX. In order for the line types in the DWG file to display
properly, the .SHX file must be placed in the \SUPPORT folder in the AutoCAD folder. The AutoCAD
user may also place the .SHX file in the same folder as the .DWG file. A .SHX file is only created if line
types other than Solid, Dashed, Dotted, or Dot-Dash are used.

The problem is the shx file is not being created only the dwg.

In other words, you are using some of the other Dcad standard liinetypes or some from Madura Studios or Cheap Tricks and Dcad isn't creating the SHX file - correct?

Just a WAG - have you checked your paths in Preferences to see if there's an errant path in it?
