When I bring in a selected jpeg file it auto rotates 90deg and I cannot get it upright
A Cheap Trick (which I believe Clay came up with long ago) is to insert/reference the bitmap file into a blank AEC file, save it, and then xref THAT file into your main file. This allows you to rotate it to your hearts content. An extra step, but you don't have to play around in Affinity Photo / Photoshop / etc. with your photo, AND you can scale it to whatever size you need, too!

I believe one can also make the image into a symbol and rotate the symbol.
