Hello:

It feels like we need a new section topic on this Forum: one for architectural related discussions! Maybe one for general or philosophical discussions, and another for nitty gritty things, like details or specific construction techniques.

The Off Topic thread feels a little "stretched" to cover these sorts of things, IMO.

Probably going to need a 3rd party applications software under technical support for stuff like when the Sketch up relationship is released.

My two cents:

May be the "construction techniques" should be put into the "Technical Support" thread under a label like "Technical Library" or something related, because DataCAD 11 capabilities has expanded a lot the areas where it can be now used.

At there (Technical Support) probably is the right place for the "3rd party applications" like SketchUp, etc.

As long as you increase the size of a forum like this, you increase the risk to scare away the newcommers.

Thanks,
Miguel

BRAKE METAL: Sheet metal that has been bent to the desired configuration.

I believe the reason the correct term is "brake" is that it is a "brake" machine that is used to do the bending of the metal and doesn't have anything to do with "break" like in busting something. Even though a lot of roofers don't do such a hot job at "braking" the metal and we architects then want to "break" what they have done and have them start all over again.
