I came across the Google Insights for Search recently and thought that the results for "house plans" searches were interesting:

It seems to have results for the term "house plans" and other related searches. The link above has all of the U.S. It looks like the number of people searching for house plans is still on a steady decline. Another interesting piece of information is that it has a comparison map that shows how each state compares in the number of people searching for "house plans". Looks like the New England states as well as Florida and the south-western states, including California are among the lowest. Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama are the highest.
Hopefully, the trend will start to improve soon...
