I have XP service pack 2 and want to reformat my hard drive. Is it OK to reformat off my original disk and then download SP2?

Reformatting the HD will erase all your data and programs -- I would buy a new one and do a fresh installation on that instead! Then after you do that, you can download SP2 (which is HUGE!) -- because if you do it before the formatting, you would lose it anyway (unless you burn it onto a CD or something like that).
