Smooth finish with acoustic damping properties

I have a co-worker trying to hunt down a smooth/hard finish product or pre-finished board that would provide acoustic damping inside a 20'x30'12' lobby area w/ tile floor. They want to try to avoid fabric based products. He has found some plaster that has fiber within it but he's having a hard time finding something to appease the client. Anyone have any products or methods that might fit the bill? I don't know the NRC rating he's looking for, I know echoing was a big concern to them from what I have overheard. Don't think STC is really an issue. Thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!
