Mark,

This is very promising!
I need to explore the transfer of color and images and most likely upgrade to a paid account. Here's my first test run.

Viewers have a advantage of being able to quickly share our work without giving up our "work" (transferring a file).
It appear to be several worth looking at and I fully expect this to be quickly developing area as we enter 2014:

Not to hijack Mark's thread but here's a quick list compiled to today. It might be worth our efforts to see how these work with DataCAD:

1. SketchFAB http://www.sketchfab.com
2. Alternativa Player http://a3dplayer.com/
3. O2C viewer app for the Ipad: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/o2c-vie ... 76729?mt=8
4. 3Divia http://www.3dvia.com/
5. Kubity http://www.kubity.com/
6. p3d.in http://p3d.in/
7. Sunglass https://sunglass.io/
8. Cortona3D http://www.cortona3d.com/

Now you need to make a feature/compatibility comparison grid.

Support for Windows Internet Browsers:
Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera

Support for MAC OS Browsers:
Opera

Support for Android Devices:
Phones, and Tablets

Support for iOS Devices:
iPod, iPhone, and iPad

Is the rendering and display engine based on WebGL?
Does the web display require HTML 5?

...and so on.

I've installed the O2C app on my Ipad and I'm quite impressed with my first impressions.

Mark: In you side by side example, are you converting the DataCAD model to Sketchup and then using the Sketchfab Sketchup converter?

That is how I created this one. I tried exporting to 3DS from DataCAD the first time around but the result was 'messy'. I have been able to go from DataCAD to 3DS to Sketchfab but the model needs to be 'clean' (all normals pointing in the correct direction).

I'm finding the best results by uploading a 3DS and "ziping" that together with my materials.

For those that would like to compare similar models to O2C here's a file I'll deposited a few into on Dropbox. Both viewers have their advantages and with the addition of O2C for the IPAD that is a real plus. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3in9ymflxjrclmc/xciRofXXq9

Good viewers will be huge for my business especially a viewer that the end users doesn't have so fuss with. Nice to see some progress down that road.
