I got an email last week from Comcast telling me that my cable modem (Internet/Phone) was too old to take full advantage of the internet speed I was paying for. They offered to send me a replacement for no cost. I went to the URL mentioned in the email and checked the "Yes, please send me a new modem" box and it arrived just a few days later. Little did I know that the new modem also included a wireless router that supports all 802.11 standards (up through 802.11ac). A bit of rearrangement of my current wireless routers and repeaters and I was up and running utilizing the new router's 5GHz wireless ac protocol. For the first time in recent memory, an "enhancement" from Comcast actually works!
