I sat through a number of REVIT demostrations and promos when Autodesk first bifurcated AutoCAD and REVIT years ago. Although I had started CAD using AutoCAD in the late 1980s, by then I had already professionally transitioned to Datacad. I thought Autodesk oversold and overpromised then, and I'm unconvinced my impression was incorrect. And for a sole practioner the Autodesk subscription model is poisonously-expensive for the number of CAD-hours actually racked-up month-on-month.

I have the same issues with the various Sketchup Layout construction document productivity apps available.

At present I use a hybrid combination of Datacad for floor plans, construction details and building sections and Layout for building massings and studies, elevations and presentation and document management. To my lasting shame, after over 30 years(?) I still don't understand Datacad's 3D functionality.
