Good morning. I have a project that will require a weatherproof (frost rain) finish deck. It's a residential application consisting of a six foot wide curved deck, about 25 foot r. for the inside r. It's a renovation so my height is limited to maybe 2 1/2" from the joists. The weight is a bit of a concern as well.
The bottom of the decking is exposed to view from a deck below.
Currently, the deck is made up of tapered 2X fir with splines cut into each board. These have totally rotted out.
I am considering frost proof tile but am concerned with cracking. The composite decking materials really aren't wide enough to allow a reasonable taper, plus grooving both sides for a spline would be a nightmare.
I really would like a monlithic material if possible, but again, I only have a bit more than 2" to work with and I would be worried about the cracking.
Does anyone know of a fairly durable product that may be worth checking out?
Thanks,
Stephen
