I'm looking to update my current computer system and a new monitor is on my wish list. I'm currently running a 22" HP w2207 with my second monitor being a one of the earlier Viewsonic LCD monitors. Neither monitors were that expensive but certainly will do the job for emails, pdf's etc. With a good portion of my time being spent modeling or rendering I think it's time to treat myself to something a little easier on the eyes.

I hear all the raves about the Apple Monitors but I'm not sure I'm up to that price point...would like to keep this purchase under $1000.

22" to 23" feels like a comfortable size to me. Any thoughts about this monitor by Viewsonic?

Hi Robert,

The specs on the first ViewSonic look very good. My only hesitation is the 1080 vertical pixels -- this is the minimum I find "comfortable" in a wide screen minitor. Almost all monitors are widescreen these days.

Here's a 24" with 1980x1200 with similar specs (though slightly smaller viewing angles, for the same price:

The Apple display I'm sure is awesome -- the LED back lighting and the resolution is top notch. They are also pretty pricey; though it does include a very good web camera, and pretty good speakers, and a powered USB hub.
