Any recommendations for an affordable & dependable new 11x17 B/W laser printer? Might consider color but really dont need. thx - rd
I have used an HP laserjet for 11x17 for a lot of years. A real workhorse and long lasting toner and drum cartridge unit. The one I currently have is an HP LaserJet 5200. It replaced the 4V printer that HP used to make. The 5200 might not be the cheapest 11x17 on the market but I have never needed either the 4V or the 5200 serviced and they each have lasted 10 years or more with daily use. The toner cartridge runs about $200 but it lasts me about 2 years.

Same here. We ran the LaserJet 4MV for a decade plus, and gave it away still working when we got our LaserJet 5000's when print speeds got faster. They have been going strong since 2000.

Same career.....
The HP 4MV had to be the best B/W DataCad printer in the known universe. The 5200L is a worthy replacement - and quite a bit lighter.
In both cases, I bought mine ex-lease. They were about $300

Only thing I would add about the LaserJet 5000's is when the driver design changed for XP/Vista/Windows 7 compatibility, print speed using their built in jetdirect cards dropped significantly. There was never an update that sped them back up LPT/USB connection still shoots out fast as ever.
