Noisy PSU

I have installed a new PSU. It is called a Pangu S500. I'm sure it is fundamentally sound but the fan is unreasonably noisy. It claims to have a quiet temperature-controlled fan but I don't think so.

I think the days of big coolers and diligent noise-control are more or less over. My last PSU ran for months with a dead fan.

There are better choices than the Pangu S500

You may have a bad unit - you could try to get a replacement, maybe?

Yes.

That will inevitably get to be a bit long and involved, with no surety of a result, and I'm actually a bit rushed with work at the moment, but at least I bought it from a local store!

I have a Zalman speed controller that is probably not very well employed and I may put it on the PSU fan, particularly as the case fan might be controllable from the motherboard.
