Hello,

Bosch is now selling a very reasonably priced laser range finder, called the DLR165K:

James Horecka has posted a positive review on the DBUG forum. You can buy one at Amazon for ~$125 shipped:

And Fine Home Building has posted a video that shows how it works:

My only wish is that it had Bluetooth, so it would work with ZiPCAD -- it does not...

[Edit: from the converstaion on the DBUG forum, you would be strongly advised to also buy these glasses with the Bosch, for use outside -- you can see the laser dot much more easily with them on.

They also have a "target" piece with a magnetic base that could be useful in some situations.

I bought one of these off of Amazon - for $117 delivered. It is amazingly accurate and very easy to use. I measured (and drew on my laptop, while I was there) a 1,200sf 2-story apartment unit with all doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, cabinets, etc. in about 3 hours - taking my time.

I have not purchased the goggles or target yet, but they are on the list for this weekend!
