I like some of the Logitech mice with the "MicroGear" wheel -- it can have the detents like most other mice, or it can scroll freely. The wheel is metal, and so as a button it has a good feel.
Here's the MX1100, which is wireless, and has 2 AA batteries, that you use with high capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries for weeks on a charge:

The MX620 lacks the volume control buttons, that I have grown to like a lot.
Those are the only two that work for me; the rest are too small and/or the wrong shape. The MX Revolution's thumb wheel is just silly.
I will mention the one Microsoft mouse that is interesting, and makes sense for laptop use, called the Arc:

It folds down for better portability, and stows the reciever so you won't lose it.
