How do you clip associative hatching out of windows, etc.?

a few ways
1. trace a boundary that goes around the window (long way)
2. Have as part of the window, a polyline that matches the perimeter, with knockout on.
3. Have a polyline that matches the window perimeter and make a void in the hatch.

You can use Voids, in the Curves/Polyline menu.
