I was wondering what the advantages or disadvantages there might be to have the support files on a server for multiple users.

We have been working with our support files on a Dropbox for Business account for over a year now and it works great. Our team is located in various remote locations, so Dropbox has been a way for the virtual office to really work efficiently. Dave G. was even nice enough to add a separate path for the gui settings so everyone can maintain there own toolbar and interface setups while still sharing the other support files. This approach works very well on a local server as well. The only thing that needs to be managed on each local installation is the Dcadwin.ini file.

We also have all of our project files on the Dropbox server. The only thing we have noticed is that the u$r file, which is supposed to provide a warning when the file is open on another machine, is not recognized when it is located on the Drobpox folder. We have to check for the presence of the file on Windows File Explorer before we open a file. We also send e-mails out notifying everyone when a file is open and when it is closed. I have been meaning to post this as an official wish list item, so Dave.....
