I need some more direction in using the repair tool that is new to v18. I am running 18.03. I had a drawing crash, twice, from what I think is a rogue symbol. Now the file won't open. I followed the Cheap Tricks instructions for how to use the Repair tool. I start up DCAD, there are no open files, but the Repair line is not showing up in the File list of items as CT instructions says that it should. I removed any of the backup files and any other files for this crashing file and put them in a different directory. Still doesn't work for me to see the Repair tool.

What step or steps have I missed to see Repair show up?

You aren't seeing this menu item in the File pull-down menu?

No, instead of Repair, my line there says "Save As Copy" My About DataCAD says I am running 18.03.00.06 (SE)

Thought I would try something and it seemed to work. I clicked on "Save As Copy" in thinking that maybe the name was just wrong, and that was the right guess. The Repair tool came up with I did that. Don't know if it is somehow just my copy of DCAD with the wrong name where it should say Repair or its in the program.

Bruce,
The "Repair" line will only show up when you are not in a DCAD drawing. The menu you show is the menu that shows up when a drawing is active. To use the repair tool, one has to just open DCAD but not a drawing. The repair tool line is supposed to then be in the File menu. Clicking on it takes one to the directory where drawings are kept and one picks the drawing to be repaired and the tool does it's thing.

A: I can't find "Repair" - is it version specific? ( I have 18 )
B: What is Purge?
C: How do I find the MNU file?

Repair came out as an update in v18. Open datacad, but do not open a drawing. Then you should be able to see the "Repair" item in the File menu.

Purge is a command so you can purge (or remove) unused symbols, types (line, door, wall, etc).

.mnu should be under C:\DataCAD 18\Support Files\Messages and Labels

found in revision history file:
Enhancements to DataCAD 18.02.00 (Since 18.01.01):

AEC File Repair
A new 'Repair' option has been added to the 'idle' (no drawings open) File menu. When you open a file using this option, you will be presented with a dialog that includes the following options.

Drawing Database Tests:
- Invalid Entities in Drawing
- Invalid Entities in Symbols
- Duplicate Polyline Vertices
- Extraordinary Values

I do not have a REPAIR option.
With DataCAD open (no job open) I have: New, Open, Recent Files, Recent Folders, Pak-N-Go, Batch Plot and Exit.
Version: 18.03.00.06 (PE)

I think maybe because it's listed as an enhancement, it is only available to subscription editions?
