I know I've arrived at this party a little late, but does anybody know how I can get my workhorse HP 450C plotter to now work with my new Windows 10 ?
I think it's a "driver" issue and I've scoured the forums looking for someone previously solving my situation. I finally had to give up Vista and also upgrade to
DC 17 (from 12). Any help or point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I think the old 450C still has some good plots left in it ! Thanks

What I've done previously when a user who upgraded to Win 7 (this was long while ago) and the plotter driver for the XP Based Plot Server (the plotter had a controller PC that was only supported in XP) was no longer supported in Win7, was to have the user create PDFs (I think he was already doing this anyway) and open a Remote Desktop Connection to the XP Machine (it was running XP Pro, so had Remote Desktop Server) from his machine and simply plot the PDF's created on the Win7 machine from a remote Desktop Session on the XP machine.

You can do the Same with your Vista Machine. If you have Vista Ultimate all you have to do is set it up to receive Remote Desktop connections, then open the Win 10 Client RDS. If you don't have Ultimate you can do the Same thing with Team Viewer (it works over the LAN as well as Over the Net). You will need to load Team Viewer on both Machines. I use it for both LAN connection to my local machines as well as to remotely access my Machines when I am out and about.

The remote desktop suggestion is of course if the VISTA machine is in the next room, or on another Desk/Location or wherever and is not sitting on the desk right next to you ;-)

The key point is to just continue using the Vista machine as your "PLOT server"

You could also try to spoof Win10 by installing a newer HP plotter driver (1050C?) and see if it will work with your 450C. I'm assuming you already looked at this article (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/DesignJet ... -p/5829439) and at this article (https://rplstoday.com/community/threads ... te.328029/) too?

Good luck!

Hi Alan. I'm curious also if an alternate drive would work. Thanks for the links!

The only issue I've had with older hardware and Win10 is for a couple of MFC Printer/Scanners. Printing works fine, but the original software that came with the Scanner wouldn't work in 10, so I installed Vista in a Virtual Machine and it works fine.
